Message from the chair NSN con 2023 April 21-22

Nepal Society of Nephrology is organizing its national conference on 21-22 April 2023 in Kathmandu. National and international faculties are presenting approximately 30 scientific papers at this conference. We are expecting 150 delegates from home and abroad.

The theme of the conference is 'Strengthening Nephrology Service in Nepal'. The nephrology service was initiated by the late Dr. Puskar Raj Satyal in 1971. He was joined by other colleagues later. In the beginning, a handful of nephrologists started the service, but now the number of registered nephrologists has reached 69. After the formation of the society, nephrologists as well as trained nurses and technicians were produced as per need. The service provided to patients also improved. Nepal's government was kind enough to CKD patients and subsidized the treatment cost for CKD. Now we have become self-sufficient in the treatment of CKD patients. It is now time to strengthen the service further.

Society is felicitating Dr. Sudha Khakurel, the senior nephrologist of the country and one of the core team members of the late Dr. Satyal, with a lifetime achievement award as recognition of her contribution to the people and society.

Scientific Committee and its chair Dr. Dhiraj Manandhar are working day and night to make this conference fruitful. Similarly, other committees are also working hard in their field to make this conference a grand success.

At the end of the conference, delegates will be updated on the field of recent advances in nephrology.

I wish for the grand success of this conference.
